and stamped timeandagain, freeingup
manpower formoreconstructive tasks.
Second, theaim is to introduceonline
payment to theNAVIS system. Thiswill sit on
topof thepayment processingarchitecture
that isbeingbuilt for the Inter-IslandFerry
(seeTTITarticle, page34). Customerswill be
able topay their full set of chargesonline,
which, as every studyhas shown, provides a
significant boost toall parties in termsof
cashflowanderror reduction.Workhas
already startedwith implementation
plannedduring2015.
Supportacrosstheboard
Therearemanyother initiativeson the IT
agenda. AHumanResourceandPayroll
software system tops the list. Thecaptureof
employeepayandattendancedata for
monthlyandweekly salaryprocessing is
primarilyamanual process for thePort of
Port of Spainbut thenew softwarewill
automate thisprocess completelyandalso
enableahost of other functionality, suchas
allowingemployees to logonandview their
complete recordandpayment history
thereby facilitatingemployee self-service.
Andbeyond this, therearemanyother
support functions for the ITdepartment to
perform. It ranges fromassisting theSecurity
Department by installingmoreCCTVs and
container number recognition software, to
ensuring that theorganisation’s computing
infrastructure is alwaysupand running.
