One certainty is that, any development must undergo
due diligence on the environmental front. Diverting a
river is particularly crucial to the plan and studies are
exploring upstream to ensure the ecosystem isn’t
being unduly affected. SLASPA is aware of the natural
splendour of the island, which keeps visitors coming
back year after year, so environmental impact
mitigation is high on the agenda.
Making it pay
A cost-benefit analysis will determine exactly what
projects get the green-light and when. A positive
development, given the global economic climate,
depends on the amount and nature of financing
available. The development of Saint Lucia’s
infrastructure is widely seen as a sensible investment
that can attract several financing options.
