ABP Group Profile 2012 - page 1

Welcome to Associated British Ports. This publication presents a
contemporary view of Britain’s largest ports group. There are 21
ports operated by ABP on the East, South andWest coasts of
Great Britain. Together they handle nearly a quarter of all trade
entering and leaving the country by sea.
We at ABP, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2012, are
pleased to contribute to the economic wellbeing of Great
Britain. Our ports range from the largest in the land on tonnage
handled to some of the smallest – often specialist – gateways.
Strategically located, they serve every region with speed and
efficiency. And such is the diversity of the cargoes carried
through our ports, it is reasonable to assert: “If it moves by sea –
it moves by ABP.”
The Group’s ports aim to provide a first class service to all our
customers. Wherever you come into contact with the ABP team
you should expect to be met with professionalism, enthusiasm
and flexibility...with a bit of warmth and humour to complete
the mix!
Along with our customers and suppliers, the communities
we depend upon and aim to serve in each of our 21 ports are
our most important stakeholders. We rely on continuing
feedback and support from these key stakeholders in all our
ports, but particularly where the Group is seeking to invest,
expand its activities, create employment and stimulate wider
economic growth.
This publication reveals something of the scale of capital
investment and professional commitment which ABP applies to
the development of the Group – and also to its relationships
with its many commercial partners.
