Port of
Immingham
Being at the top of the pile comes naturally to the Port of
Immingham – the UK’s largest ocean gateway for dry bulk
cargoes…the country’s leading coal handling port…Britain’s
second busiest ro-ro port…and the focus for a record
investment by ABP in a single port terminal development.
With its sister port of Grimsby, the Port of Immingham
handles annual cargoes of more than 48 million tonnes – 10%
of all UK seaborne freight – applying the biggest and best in
terminals and equipment to provide a fast and efficient service
that is second to none.
Celebrating its centenary in 2012, this deepwater port on
the south bank of the Humber is the maritime powerhouse for
major strategic supplies of coal and petroleum products.
Immingham provides easy access to major international
trade routes encompassing North and South America, Africa,
Australia and the Middle and Far East – plus the European
market of 170 million people less than 24 hours steaming away.
HUMBER PORTS –
IMMINGHAM
HUMBER PORTS
The mighty Humber Estuary is Britain’s busiest trading seaway and is home to four unique
ABP ports handling a total of more than 60 million tonnes between them. Grimsby and
Immingham combine on the south bank to form the UK’s biggest ocean gateway, moving
more than 48 million tonnes of cargo. Some 50 miles upriver from the sea, the country’s
premier inland port of Goole proves the power of location, while the north shore’s
prominent traditional Port of Hull carves out a pivotal role in a new, flagship industry of
offshore wind turbine manufacturing and assembly.
